Language Arts Teacher Certificate, B.A Oregon State University in English

Biography
Marcy draws upon her study of English at Oregon State University (with highest scholarship; language arts teacher certification), as well as at Lewis & Clark College through the Oregon Writing Project. She worked as a public school teacher for five years before directing her attention to raising three sons (now grown). She has worked for the last ten years in Ann Arbor as a private language arts tutor, specializing in upper elementary to middle school ages. Whether reticent learners or advanced writers, all students who study with Marcy grow in the skill of written communication and literary analysis through weekly journals, vocabulary study, and writing and reading of all kinds. Marcy’s students have been finalists in writing contests, from the Ann Arbor District Library to the John Locke Institute in Oxford, England. Her students have gone on to study at the Chadwick International School and Korea International School as well as at top-tier universities. However, Marcy feels her greatest accomplishment is when students feel welcomed into her lessons and leave as strong writers and lifelong lovers of reading.
